It’s been a long trek that’s taken thousands of miles to get from Clément Bony’s first foray into wine with a short internship in the Languedoc in 2010 to making his first wines as Bonyvresse while working alongside Loïc Roure at Domaine du Possible in the Roussillon in 2020. Places of interest along Clément’s journey include:

  • Mulhouse, Alsace - small town famous for the automobile industry near the borders with Germany and Switzerland in the east of France, where Clement grew up, went to high school, and had a short-lived stint at law school.

  • Languedoc – a hot region of Southern France, where Clément was exposed to the world of wine during an internship in Faugères, then on to Montpellier, “capital” of the Languedoc, where he studied for both his winemaking and wine business diplomas from 2010 to 2013.

  • Strasbourg, Alsace - city and main hub in Alsace with a big natural wine scene, where Clément spent several years working in the wine industry as sommelier at leading natural wine spots.

  • Italy - a country in Europe of a recognizable shape, where Clément worked in 2018 with Marco Buratti in Padova near Venice, then further south near Naples at Cantina Giardino. An experience for Clément working for people with conviction and a strict zero-zero approach to winemaking.

  • Australia and New Zealand - some islands far away, where Clément assisted with the 2019 and 2020 vintages at Momento Mori near Melbourne and made his very first wines.

  • Lansac, Roussillon - with the pandemic in full swing, Clément headed back home to France in 2020 but to the Roussillon, where he made wines alongside Loïc Roure and started making wines as Bonyvresse.

This melting pot of studies and global experiences from different wine regions and wine making techniques come together in the wines we have from Clément, which for his very first 2021 vintage is one white (with a hint of skin contact) and two reds.

So after all his travels, things have gone full circle and Clément is finally back home in his native Alsace and excited by the dynamics of the wine business there. From the 2022 vintage, wines will be made entirely in Alsace but with a mix of grapes from the regions close to his heart - blending the sun and power from the Roussillon with the colder climate of Alsace.

Le Monde de Près 2021

Appellation: Vin de France

Farming: Certified Agriculture Biologique

Grapes: Grenache Blanc (40%), Maccabeu (35%), Vermentino (25%). 80 year old Maccabeu on gneiss/sand/clay from around Cassagnes. 40 year old Grenache and Vermentino on schist from Laroque-des-Albères.

Vinification: One stainless steel tank filled with direct press Maccabeu (70%) and Grenache. Another similar tank filled with whole bunch Grenache and Vermentino and left on skins for 14 days. Pressed and blended in early October with the Maccabeu/Grenache into stainless steel until bottling in May 2022.

Fining: No Filtering: No Added SO2: Yes Production: 160 cases ABV: 13%


Les Allers À 2021

Appellation: Vin de France

Farming: non-certified Organic

Grapes: Syrah, Grenache Noir (55/45). 30 years old around Cassagnes

Vinification: Whole bunch co-fermentation in 5000 litre fibreglass tanks for 12 days. Pressed and back into fibreglass until bottling in May 2022.

Fining: No Filtering: No Added SO2: Yes Production: 290 cases ABV: 12.5%


Nuit de Feu 2021

Appellation: Vin de France

Farming: non-certified Organic

Grapes: Cinsault (35%), Grenache Noir (35%), Mourvedre (20%), Grenache Blanc (10%). All from 30 year old vines at Laroque-des-Albères and Cassagnes.

Vinification: Mix of whole bunch and crushed co-fermentation in 5000 litre fibreglass tanks for 12 days. Pressed and back into fibreglass for nine months until bottling in May 2022.

Fining: No Filtering: No Added SO2: Yes Production: 230 cases ABV: 12.8%
